WARNING: PMS, need I say more?

PMS has distorted my view of reality and has me jumping to the wrong conclusions, acting ridiculously spoilt, pushing war with everybody and generally just being a complete pain is the ass.

The sad thing is that for me I get PMS the week before AND the week after the actual week itself. So I'm left with what? Only 12 weeks of sanity out of the year? If you ask me we women got the short end of the stick in this department. I'd just as soon do without the hormone imbalances, the water retention aka bloating aka becoming fat, as if dealing with the agony of cramps isn't enough?

Okay, let me stop bitching, today was a good day, ummm let's see, oh yeah, my Dad took me out to dinner at Gloria's a nice fish joint in Port Royal right across from the police station. That was pretty good, except that thanks to PMS I lost my appetite half way through what was actually a really nice escoveitched fish and then promptly passed out on the ride back to the house.

Right now I'm fighting sleep so that I'll be up when J gets home from Wing Stop so we can chat for a bit and play dominos together on Y! Messenger. Ooo speaking of which it's time to change my avatar!

And the hormone rollercoaster continues...

Really warm weather...

It's so hot today it's unbelievable. I have the fan here in the living room on full blast and it's only just keeping the heat (and the mosquitos) at bay. Normally my Dad has a problem with fan's being on high but luckily he hasn't said anything. I'm so tempted to go and just fill the bathtub with ice cold water and go and just sit and do nothing except maybe read my book. He just checked the temperature gauge and it's about 87 degrees inside the house, which means it must be at least mid-90s outside. Thank goodness I don't have anything else to go and do on ther road!

This morning I went with a friend to pick up the S12 I'm supposed to drive in this weekend's upcoming dexterity event and transport it down to be parked at my mother-in-law's restaurant. "Thunder" is a LHD like my Q so I'm no longer as terrified of the car. J kept saying how I must be careful else I'll drive off into a ditch so my heart was in my throat just to back the car out a spot and park it somewhere else but I didn't stall and nothing weird happened so that feeling is past. Now I'm looking forward to the dexterity this Sunday :)

Yahoo! Messenger Avatars

Who knew that something so simply and cute could be so much fun to fiddle with? I actually don't use Y! Messenger that much but the past two weeks I've been spending lots of time playing around with the avatar personalization screen :)

Pipe dream

Who was I trying to kid, there's no way I could support another sport compact car with Q (my 1993 Nissan 240SX) at home still needing lots of work. Last night J took her to our neighborhood drag strip (Red River Raceway) and the best time she posted on the 1/4 mile was 15.44, which is dismal considering with the SR20DET engine that's in there she should be able to run 12s. Yesterday I had to call Marcel and tell him that he's going to have to add me to the list of people that didn't buy his Mirage. If I get a car out here at all it's going to have to be a straight, normal, everyday point A to B ride, which is going to depress me, I know but it's all about what you can afford.

Trust me, think twice before you get into tuning and the import car scene and think doubly hard before you get a car with boost or upgrade your car to a turbo forced induction system; it's a DISEASE I tell you! I've been going through severe withdrawly pains since I got separated from Q and Joe Rockett (J's 240SX). Yeah, I know I'll be okay, it's nothing life threatening or anything like that but it's hard to be stuck here contemplating how many places I can hit in one run knowing that the taxi fare is X amount of dollars and that walking any distance is out of the question because you can't carry much and you'd probably faint in the heat.

I guess I'm just used to being alot more independent :-(

1988 Mitsubishi Cyborg

I think the search for an affordable but fast car to drive here while I'm in temporary "exile" in Jamaica has come to an end. Earlier tonight I left my friend Sal and his girl Nikki at a fashion show and went to test drive this car. I felt bad leaving but then the show was two hours late starting and I've mellowed to the point where I'd rather chill and talk about cars than pretend to be hype and look cute at a show.

Getting back into the swing of things...

I've pretty much been sitting behind the laptop for the whole day, alternately chatting away with everyone in the Wheels Jamaica chatroom or clattering away on an article that I'm working on. There are actually 2 that I'm doing. The one I'm writing now is the longer of the two on reggae artist Anthony B and his latest album "Untouchable" which I have here in the CD-rom drive and loaded up in Windows Media Player. I'm almost done with this article but it's been sweat and tears ehehe no blood just yet. It's taking me this long because I suppose I have to get back into the swing of writing. While I was in college it wasn't that bad but now I realize that tomorrow will make one year since I've graduated from University College Utrecht, by the way **Congratulations Kristina!** (UCU Website)

Luckily volunteering at the legal office kept me on my toes with writing and using Word and such :)

The second article is about half the length of the one I'm doing now so hopefully it doesn't take as long!

10 Months 1 Day

We've been married 10 months and 1 day today. Yes, that's a weird countdown to remember but trust me I have a bunch of countdowns going at the moment. There's the one for the time until J comes to Jamaica from the US that one's at 5 weeks and 4 days and then there's the time that it will take for some papers to be transfered, somewhere between 90 and 83 days.

The countdown to our anniversary is just built into my brain, after all I am female :)

The one for when J comes I use my MSN extra nickname space to count that one down.

Dinner from the new TGI Fridays that's here in Jamaica now. I got some chicken fajitas. Can't wait to just curl up with my book The Romanov Prophecy by Steve Berry.

High School Memories...

Here finding more interesting things. Just uncovered a stack of note paper which at first I was going to toss but then I realized what it was and now I have a new project. Written on these sheets of paper are what the people in my 5th form year wanted in the year book (that we never really got): self-descriptions, favorite songs and quotes, what they wanted to be at the time and what they figured they'd become. And my 5th form class was huge so it's a decent stack of papers.

This Wednesday is a general meeting of the Alumni Association at the high school. Hopefully I'll see someone from my year there because I plan to type these all out and make a compilation.

Clean Sweep

Dee and I are watching 'Clean Sweep' on TLC and started talking about keeping t-shirts as momentos. So I jumped up and went to see if I could find the sorority rush shirt I got at Washington & Lee back in 2001. I didn't find the shirt - which is really sad because it had a cute Dr Seuss style jingle on it - but I've found quite a few other t-shrits and momentos that have made me happy.

I found the Wood's Creek Music Festival t-shirt (WLU), the Fancy Dress 2001 t-shirt (WLU), my Kostka house t-shirt (Campion) and a t-shirt from the CVM Saint International Face's of Summer Model Search from the year I was assigned to cover the competition.

In the same drawer under all those t-shirts I found a large envelope that along with other things had ALL my certificates from preschool and preparatory school! Apparently I was shrieking so loudly that when I said to Dee, "Guess what?" she immediately knew to ask, "What did you find?" LOL So I've started making plans to get color copies of them and get frames and then tuck these safely away in acid-free paper :-)

It's been a long time...

Wow it's a been a long time since I've updated this blog. I've decided to get back into it rather than opening My Space at MSN since this was already set up. I figure I just won't do extra long blog entries that way I can always log on and mash out something really quick. :)
